Does Cheap Pest Control Really Work?
When it comes to home services, one of the biggest deciding factors is price. In this economy, there’s definitely an urge to find the lowest price on the market.
However, I’m here to tell you that if you’re doing that with your pest control services, you’re throwing away your money.
My name is Michael Flournoy, and I’m the owner of Paladin Pest Control. I’ve been in the industry for 20 years and have worked for several local pest companies.
What I’ve seen over the years is that there are three ways a company will drive down their prices, and none of them are good.
The first method is diluting their product. This allows them to do more services without incurring much cost.
Obviously, a diluted product is going to be less effective at protecting your home and lawn, and it will break down faster.
The second method is using less product. I’ve been with companies where all they do is a foundation spray with one product and a contact kill.
While this might be great for spiders and scorpions, it does next to nothing for an ant issue.
What you really want is a variety of products in your lawn, complementing each other and covering a wider range of pests.
The third method companies use is not paying their technicians a fair wage. I once worked for a local company that employed all three of these tactics. They were able to drive down their prices to a rate that nobody could compete with, which sounds fantastic.
However, what many people don’t know is that technicians get a percentage of the price you pay as the customer. At this particular company, there were technicians making as little as 8% commission.
They would roll up and do a $50 job, earning about three dollars. Imagine that—three dollars to treat your home and lawn.
Many of these technicians have a mindset of trying to accomplish as many jobs as possible in as little time as possible to scratch out a living.
What you’re left with as the consumer is a five-minute job with one diluted product, and the bugs are still running amok afterward.
In all honesty, if that’s the service you’re receiving, you are better off not having a pest control service at all.
If you’re looking for pest control or just want to know if the service you’re receiving is a good one, let’s have a conversation.
At Paladin Pest Control, we use a variety of products and rotate them because pests can become immune to the same product if used repeatedly.
I don’t lock anyone into contracts. We offer fair prices and honest service without gimmicks or shortcuts.
That’s the Paladin promise.
